Hello friends today here we are again with a traditional gujarati curry recipe which is well known as onion chilli gathiya curry. It is oftenly cooked in gujarati villages and people love to have this delicious curry with roti and rotla (bajre ka rotla or millet flour bread). This is really very simple and easy to make Indian curry which you can make in just quick time. With being very tasty this curry is also good for health.

Mainly this quick onion chilli gathiya curry is prepared from small onions, green chillies, gathiya (gujarati snack) and some other spices. You can cook this curry for lunch or dinner and enjoy with your family. All the required ingredients to make this curry are very simple and commonly available. Along with this you may also like some other gujarati curries like lima beans curry, dahi ki subzi, Baingan masala etc……

Ingredients for Onion Chilli Gathiya Curry:

Main Ingredients:

200 gm Small Onions.
100 gm Green Chillies Chopped in 1 Inch Size.
100 gm Gathiya.

Other Spices/Ingredients:

1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder.
Salt according to taste.
2-3 tbsp Oil.

Onion Chilli Gathiya Curry Preparations:

  • Heat oil in a non stick pan, when oil gets hot add in chillies and fry them little then take out in a plate.
  • Now in the same pan add cumin seeds and let the crackle.
  • Now add ginger chilli paste and saute for little time then add peeled small onions and stir well.
  • Now add in turmeric powder, coriander powder, kashmiri red chilli powder and salt.
  • Be careful while adding salt because gathiya itself has salt, mix all the spices well.
  • Now add little water, add very small amount of water that onions get cooked nicely.
  • Now cover and cook it till onions become soft, when onions get cooked add in fried green chillies, don’t cook chillies for long as they are already fried first.
  • Now add gathiya and mix well then cover and cook for 1 minute.
  • After 1 minute turn the heat off, take out the curry in a serving plate and serve hot with roti or bajre ka rotla (Millet Flour Bread).

Notes
Don’t take hot and spicy chillies for this curry.
Add very less amount of water because this curry tastes dry.
If you want to make this curry semi dry or watery then add more water plus you can also add 2-3 tbsp curd also but it tastes good if you make dry.
